Player Portal Guide
Set up the Grimoire Player Portal so your players can explore the campaign world, with block-level visibility keeping your secrets hidden.
The Player Portal lets your players access campaign content you've shared with them. This guide covers what players can see and do.
For Gamemasters
Inviting Players
- Go to your campaign's Settings
- Click Invite Codes
- Click Create Invite Code
- Choose:
- Single use: One player only - Multi-use: Multiple players - Expiration: When the code stops working
- Share the invite link with your player
What Players Can Browse
Every campaign starts on Wiki only. Your players see the wiki pages you share and nothing else, exactly as before. When you are ready to let players explore the world, open the Player Portal tab in your campaign Settings and pick a preset.
Wiki only (default) Players see the wiki pages you share, nothing else. No entity browsing.
Revealed world Players can browse what the party has met, plus anything you mark as Player Knowledge. The world fills in as your players play: an NPC, location, or quest shows up in the portal once it appears in a session you have logged.
Open world Players can browse everything except your secrets. Anything that is Common Knowledge or Player Knowledge is visible.
Under every preset, DM Secret content and session prep never appear, and the wiki keeps working exactly as it does today.
The Revealed World Sub-Toggle
Under Revealed world you get one extra switch:
"Also show common knowledge the party has not discovered yet."
- Off (default): the world reveals itself as your players explore it. A common-knowledge tavern in a far-off city stays hidden until the party gets there.
- On: common-knowledge entries show up right away, even for places the party has not reached. Player-knowledge and met-in-session entries always show either way.
What Sessions Reveal
Under Revealed world, logging a session recap reveals the things that session touched: NPCs, locations, quests, items (loot), creatures, player characters, lore, and deities.
Some entity types are never pulled in by sessions. Factions, world rules, mechanics, and vehicles appear under Revealed world only when you mark them Player Knowledge (or when you turn on the sub-toggle above and they are Common Knowledge). If a faction should be visible, set its Player Knowledge to Player Knowledge.
Hiding a Single Entity
Any entity has a "Hidden from the portal" toggle in its edit form, next to Player Knowledge. Turn it on and that entity never shows in the portal, whatever its visibility tier and whether or not the party has met it. Use it for the one NPC you want held back even in an Open world.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why can't I see certain content? A: Your GM controls visibility. If you can't see something, your character hasn't discovered it yet.
Q: Can I edit wiki pages? A: Only if your GM has enabled collaborative editing for that campaign.
Q: What happens if I forget my password? A: Contact your GM - they can reset your access or create a new invite code.
Q: Can I access multiple campaigns? A: Yes! Each invite code is for a specific campaign. Join as many as your GMs invite you to.
